I met Wendy through my sport, dressage. We board and train our horses with the same wonderful expert. Wendy is always the first to offer help when someone needs it. When we’re at a horse show, and someone needs lunch, she is the first to offer to go out of her way to get it. She brings donuts to everyone and coffee to her trainer every Saturday morning. She is the first to open her wallet and give you everything that she has, if you need it. I know that several times she has helped friends in financial need with her savings, and she never talks about any of it. It is just who she is.
Does that mean that in order to give unconditional love that you have to give everyone your money and wait on them when they need it? No, I only use the way she gives to others as an example of her loving nature.
If you are having a down day, she will just sit quietly with you and let her sheer presence comfort you. If you need her to go somewhere with you, she will. If you need a favor, she’s there. I’ve been on the receiving end of a lot of it, and I can tell you, she’s amazing.
What makes her amazing is her demeanor. She never asks for anything in return. It is almost as if the act itself is her reward. I’ve never known anyone quite like her. The most unselfish of the unselfish. Cheerleader, friend, confidante, giver of comfort and kindest of the kind.
We need to treasure and honor the Wendys of the world. Too few of them are to be found. How lucky I am to be able to call her my friend. Will I ever be able to return the many generous kindnesses she has shown me? I sincerely hope so.
So, Wendy Morgan, I salute and honor you for the wonderful example you are on how to be a true friend, and how to give others unconditional love.
Til Next Time,
Carol
