Mine are fairly simple and far less complex than these great writers, all of whom I admire greatly. Dogs, horses, and unconditional love. Dogs because they are the only creatures on earth that truly give unconditional love. Horses because they reveal so much about the internal workings of their human companions.
To date, my writing has been all about canines with Luke's Tale, the Snow Blood Series, and now the Moon Blood Series. But, I took a break from that and started writing about something very close to my heart. I am creating a novella about the Friesian horse. I've had three... so this book, entitled, Memoir of a Friesian - One Soul, Three Lifetimes is somewhat autobiographical with a hefty dose of spirituality and mysticism. In a nutshell, it's about how a guardian soul (or earth angel if you wish) inhabits the bodies of three Friesians, one at a time, belonging to an older woman. It's about what they teach her, and about the relationship between the woman and her trainer. It's a story about friendship and what binds people together.
Is it told from the point of view of the Friesian? The guardian soul? The woman? The answer is yes - multiple points of view.
It's in the hands of my publisher now. I'm holding my breath to see if she likes it. If she doesn't, no worries. That's the beauty of being a writer. I wrote it for me. If anyone else reads and likes it along the way, that's just icing on the cake.
Til Next Tiime,
Carol
